Workshop For Restored Vintage Toys
Don't replace vintage toys - Restore them.
I gave my older son my oldest toy – Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Starfighter. What I’d forgotten was that he’s only four years old… It didn’t take long before the Starfighter was lying in the hall, half-smashed. My own fault :) But that was the moment I thought to myself: what if there were a company that restored old vintage toys and resold them in its own packaging? Or even took on commissions to repair damaged toys, whether new or vintage. I then thought this idea through in more depth over a few evenings, which led to the creation of the concept brand ‘RestoreKnights’. A company that specialises in refurbishing vintage toys for collectors and those with a nostalgic streak, and resells or auctions them as one-off pieces. For many people and in many situations, those with such craftsmanship are heroes who bring moments from childhood back to life. I immediately thought of the toy knights from my own childhood, which I then used as the central motif for the logo.

The Knights
Through their symbolism, knights represent the heroes and saviours of the nostalgic moments cherished by many people. They manage to bring back old, sometimes already faded memories and moments of joy, making them tangible once more. Using the pixel art style, we bring these ancient heroes into our digital age, whilst also evoking that nostalgic connection to the much-loved old 16-bit games. The aim is to convey a symbiosis of childlike playfulness and a professional, expert service.

The Product
Through restoration, ‘Restore Knights’ breathes new life into toys and gives them a new custom value that cannot be compared to that of new toys. For this reason, ‘Restore Knights’ sells and dispatches its finished pieces in packaging designed in-house. Each toy receives custom packaging printed with pixel illustrations of the toy inside, in keeping with the brand’s style.

The marketing concept focuses primarily on the end product, the packaging, and the transformation of old, broken toys into the final result made possible by ‘Restore Knights’.
